Brasov, my home town, is one of the largest and most cherished cities of Romania.
Surrounded on three sides by mountains, it was a perfect place for a medieval settlement.
The old
city, founded by the Teutonic Knights in 1211, is one of the best preserved cities in all of Europe. It was thoroughly restored to the delight of an increasing number of tourists. It is the capital city of Brasov County, in central Romania, in Transylvania, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains. Brasov also makes a fabulous base for exploring the mountains and surrounding countryside.
So, we'll have incredible possibilies to mix in the best possible way the mountain days with sightseeing days.
What about the mountains? The highest Romanian peaks are in the Southern Carpathians - Moldoveanu (2544 m/8,346 feet) and Negoiu (2535 m/8,316 feet).
The Carpathians' ensemble is characterized by its varied landscape owing to the different types of relief particularities (glacial, karstic, riverine, structural-lithological), the alternation of mountainous and depressions units, gorges and valleys and the diversity and configuration of the vegetation.
You'll have plenty of opportunities to choose the tracks that will be fitted to your own walking style and
fitness level.
During my tours it would be possible to admire the wildlife. Romania has the highest concentration of large carnivores in Europe, with estimates of over 6000 brown bears, 2500 wolves and some 1750 lynx living in the region.

Southern Carpathians and about Mountain Leader-Romania style.
